When will I be good enough?

I've been on a long, sometimes lonely journey of learning and self-improvement. Every day, I dedicate hours to practicing new skills and inching closer to the person I aspire to be, even if lately I've had to cut back for exams 😭 . Yet, despite making progress, I often find myself asking, “When will I be good enough?” It's like standing at the foot of a mountain and wondering if I'll ever reach the peak, even when I see signs of progress along the way.

Sometimes, I worry that all my hard work might ultimately be for nothing. With the rise of AI-generated code and constant chatter claiming that software development as we know it is dead, it’s hard not to question the value of what I'm learning. I fear that the skills I'm painstakingly acquiring might soon be rendered obsolete, or that there won't be enough opportunities to truly prove myself in a field where the rules seem to change overnight.

But here’s the thing, every expert was once a beginner. The constant evolution of technology means that while AI may take over some tasks, it also opens up new ways to think, create, and solve problems. Even if I don't feel completely ready yet, each day of practice adds to my experience, and I’m slowly learning to navigate this ever-changing landscape.

At the end of the day, even when I still question my worth, I remind myself that growth isn’t measured solely by immediate rewards or external validation. Every step, every mistake, and every small victory is part of a larger, ongoing journey. There is a light at the end of the tunnel or at least I think so, a future where I trust my abilities, where my persistence pays off, and where I find my own place in this vibrant, transforming world of technology.

For now, I choose to see these challenges as opportunities to adapt and evolve (prolly in level 45 now, lol). Even if I sometimes feel overshadowed by the hype and rapid changes around me, I know that my journey is unique. My story is still unfolding, and with each new day comes another chance to get a little closer to being "good enough."

If you read to this point, I hope I've been able to make you feel a little better about yourself and your inability to center a div. We're all eventually going to get to where we want to if we keep putting in the work. I'm Ifeoluwa and I build web & mobile apps, so if you have any gigs hit me up🙏.
